When I woke up this morning I was so tired. Normally as soon as my eyes open I am wide awake and ready to rumble but not his morning. My evil alarm clock is the source of my fatigue because it went off at midnight without any provocation. I tried to turn it off, but only succeeded snoozing it for ten minutes at a time. As a last resort I unplugged it, but alas, it beeped again ten minutes later because it has batteries too. Ugh! At last, I turned it off but by then I was awake. I tossed and turned and finally fell back to sleep.
My evening started out promising enough when my massage therapist arrived on schedule. It is important that we take time for self care, but sometimes we tend to put our needs second to members of our family. This what happened to me over the summer, because of the summer craziness, my traveling and her schedule we just could not find the right time, that is until last night. I was looking forward to this massage, especially since it had been so long since my last appointment.
After an hour and a half, kneeing and massaging, trying to get those tight knots in my back, I was reduced to a rubber doll. As she was leaving she said, "I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful restful sleep tonight". No doubt, I could barely mumbled. How could I not with my body totally feeling like a wet noodle. If only that spiteful alarm clock was not set to go off at midnight I would have slept like a baby all night. However, I decided on an afternoon nap because sometimes you got to do what you got to do. I am grateful that hubby and son were nice enough to play quietly while I had my nap. When I woke up my son said, "Good morning sleepy head". And I smiled.

I always find that my sleep patterns change with the seasons. Odd, isn't it? While I can attribute a certain portion of the change to the extended or shortened daylight but something else happens that I can't explain. I simply need more sleep in the winter months. Maybe I am a bear and need to hibernate. : )
What a sweet picture!
I often wonder about the mechanism of sleep. Alarm clocks are of no great use to me. I can hear the alarm sound clearly , and..go on sleeping.
If I have completed the 7-8 hours of sleep I might wake up naturally without any exterior intervention such as an alarm clock.
Greetings Duta,
Thank you for stopping by today. It is always nice to see your comments.
As a rule, like you, I don't use an alarm clock to wake up. That is why I didn't know how to turn it off. Even when I have to travel, then because I am worried about sleeping in I wake up too early.
I don't even wear a watch but I am never late for appointments. I am a bit compulsive about being on time for things.
I understand the feeling especially here in Canada where the winter is so long and cold. Staying under a cozy warm blanket is the most reasonable thing to do. Getting severed tea in bed is the ultimate luxury, I think.
I'd love shorten the winter months from seven to two months that would be perfect.
Try doing without an alarm clock. I know it's said than done. What i believe is that our body has an inbuilt mechanism. The night before, tell yourself, i need to be awake by whatever time- your brain shall alert your body at that time.
I know it sounds weird. It takes time to work but It does!!
Hi Monica,
Actually, that is the funny thing I don't use an alarm clock which is the reason I could not in my sleepy daze figure out how to turn it off.
But I did enjoy my afternoon nap, this too is something I don't usually do. It was really great and I felt well rested when I woke up. Now I know why babies love to nap.
