I guess, I wasn't as over it as I thought I was. Before the holidays I checked a name on facebook and noticed that a former friend had a facebook profile. I debated with myself before sending her a Christmas message. I never expected her to respond, but she did, and with an equally nice seasons greetings.
I admit, based on our history I was surprised she responded at all. Although, I am very pleased she did, it was as if the universe sent me a special gift. But does this change anything, after all, she didn't add me as a friend or anything. I hope we will be able to pick up where we left off before it all fell apart.

P.S. Just got a friend invite : )

Give it a bit of time. You both have to "sleep on it" - to renew or not the friendship?
Sometimes renewal of a past friendship could be very dissappointing, and sometimes it could offer a very good surprise.
Hi Duta,
Thank you for your kind advice. Life is too short to have something that occurred over 12 years ago to dictate how we act today. : )
Aw. Please try not to read too much into it...I truly believe that FB (and the other social networking sites) are still flawed because you have this "wall" of the internet....it's still impersonal in the end. You can hide behind not answering someone for DAYS or weeks...and it's still acceptable.
It's not always easy to know where you stand...ya know?
You are absolutely right about social networks, although I wish it was not so. I normally answer people within a day unless I am traveling.
I really appreciate your comment Kathryn, thank you.
As there has been history and your contact most likely came out of the unexpected realms , perhaps your friend-who-is-mirroring-something-for-you decided to think about whether or not to reconnect given what ever it was that went down.
If you still had the desire to make the connection and she responded it seems there is still a bond between you both and there is nothing like either old friends or our life-long family to gauge how well we are growing in life....;-)
Hi Carol,
Thank you for giving me this perspective, a New Year is approaching and with it comes a new direction.
